Wicklow and Glendalough with Sheepdog Farm- Full-Day Tour

Discover some of Ireland's most stunning locations on this Glendalough and Wicklow Mountains one-day tour. Immerse yourself and get to know all corners of 'Garden County', including beautiful forests, wildlife, monasteries, and traditional working practices.

Beyond the Trees is one of our many exciting stops on our visit to Wicklow, and Avondale will not disappoint with its treetop boardwalk through a forest and across Avonmore River Valley. Along your walk you will be treated to amazing views over the valley as you discover some of Ireland's finest trees along the way - be sure to look out for the local wildlife too! At the end of the boardwalk, you will reach the viewing tower, featuring its spiral ramp boardwalk reaching 38 meters into the air and providing spectacular panoramic views - this wheelchair and pram-accessible viewing tower offers breathtaking panoramas as you ascend it for an aerial experience from above! This viewing tower is wheelchair and pram-user-friendly with rest stops along the way.

After lunch (not included), we will visit Glendalough, famous for both its history and scenery. You will spend an hour and a half there exploring the monastic city and lakes. Glendalough is an early Christian settlement founded by St. Kevin in the 6th Century. Glendalough translates to "valley of the two lakes", Take time here to explore the Upper and Lower Lakes and enjoy the breathtaking views of the valley.

On our journey through the Wicklow mountains, we will stop and visit Hollywood - the original Hollywood, boasting the name at least a thousand years before Hollywood in California was ever heard of. It was a local man Matthew Guirke, who christened the famous Los Angeles suburb with the name Hollywood after he fled to America in the 1840's.

At our final stop, we will visit a working sheep farm, a highlight for most! A local farmer will introduce you to their hardworking sheepdogs who will demonstrate an impressive sheepdog demonstration. Notice how their handler guides the dogs to retrieve the sheep from out in the field and skillfully drives them back to their holding using whistle and voice commands.
