The Best of Game of Thrones: All Filming Locations - Shore Excursion

This tour offers you a unique look into all the locations where the popular Game of Thrones series was filmed in Dubrovnik and in surrounding areas. Dubrovnik itself was chosen as a location for filming because of the description of King’s Landing as a medieval European city surrounded by the sea, which is a description that fits like a glove to our city.

The tour includes locations of Old Town, fort Lovrijenac (Red Keep), Lokrum (Qarth) and the arboretum (Gardens of King’s Landinmg). On the island of Lokrum you will have the opportunity to sit on the original iron throne that was used for the filming in Dubrovnik. In a 20 min panoramic drive along the Adriatic coast we will reach the Gardens of King’s Landing-the oldest arboretum in Europe. Many love stories from the Dubrovnik past are connected with it and that is the place where many aristocratic summerhouses are situated.

All in all, the tour encompasses all the locations where Game of Thrones was filmed in and around Dubrovnik and offers you a fantastic balance between the historical significance of the locations and their Game of Thrones counterparts.

First stop is Trsteno Arboretum, a hidden botanical garden in a quaint village of Trsteno. From Dubrovnik to Trsteno there is about 30 minutes of driving. Arboretum was Gardens of King’s Landing in Game of Thrones and because it has many plants and trees, it’s always nice and cool, even in the hottest summer days.

Next, we head to Fort Lovrijenac, the amazing Red Keep, situated on a clifftop and there are some stairs to be taken to the top, but once you’re there, it is worth the walk. In the gallery you may see some photos of the view from Lovrijenac castle. The walk to the top is not hasty and you will most definitely not be rushed by the tour guide. At the entrance we cover the ticket expense. Below Lovrijenac there is Pile Bay which was Blackwater Bay Battle location with many exciting scenes.

We then head to the old town where we will show you all filming locations starting from Pile Gate with the highlight – Walk of Shame. You’ll discover Dubrovnik was used for another big filming just recently.

We get to Lokrum by ferry, it takes about 15 minutes in one direction by boat. Amazing, lush, supreme Lokrum island which was serving as City of Qarth in Game of Thrones. For every GOT fan the absolute highlight is hidden on that little island – the Iron Throne, where you will make unforgettable pictures as The Ruler of The 7 Kingdoms. We’ll take a small break on the island for you to relax, have something to eat (there are two restaurants and a snack bar on the island; or you can bring a picnic) or have a swim if you’d like to, in that case, take a towel and bathing suits. Smoking and bringing pets to the island is not allowed. Also, there are no overnight stays on Lokrum. After brief sightseeing with your guide, you’ll have about 1 hour of free time on the island. Important note: sometimes because of the weather conditions the boats don’t operate, this is out of our reach. If that occurrence happens, the guide will give you instructions how the tour shall continue.

We finish the tour on Lokrum island where you will after have some free time. In the summertime, it’s an ideal spot for swimming and sunbathing, so you can take your swimming gear with you. Afterwards you meet your driver on a prearranged spot that your guide showed to you before you parted with him.

Once we’re done discovering all sights of our tour, we’ll drop you off back at the port and your ship.
