Rome in a Day: Vatican, Colosseum and Historic Centre

This tour combines your must-do Rome experiences into one full-day. Immerse yourself in the essence of Roman history, culture, art and architecture on this incredible walking tour of Rome's most famous sights. Visit the Colosseum, the Vatican Museums and the historic centre of ancient Rome. Visit the museums and the Sistine Chapel, all in the company of an expert local guide.

On this expertly guided walking tour, see it all— the Colosseum, Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, Piazza Navona and more. With special access to help you get ahead of the crowds and one quick bus transfer from central Rome to the Vatican, get the most from every precious second.

Take to the streets of Rome for a walking tour of the historic centre with your guide. You'll visit Piazza Navona, the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon and Piazza Venezia, among other iconic sites. There will be a one-hour break for lunch (not included in the price) with recommendations from your guide.

Then head to the Colosseum to enjoy a guided tour in small groups. Hear tales of gladiators and emperors as you learn what life was like in Rome 1,000 years ago during a one-hour tour of one of the world's most iconic sites. You won't go inside the Roman Forum, opting instead for a special viewing point where you can see everything without the crowds.

From there, take a private transfer to the Vatican Museums. Enjoy a tour of the best of the Vatican Museums as you admire the Raphael Rooms, the Gallery of Cartographs and ancient Greek and Roman sculptures. Enter the world-famous Sistine Chapel, one of the most acclaimed interiors of all time, almost entirely due to Michelangelo's incredible frescoed ceiling.

A carefully planned itinerary and a knowledgeable guide will help you see far more than you could on your own. Relax and enjoy an epic day of sightseeing in Rome, knowing that all the details have been taken care of. All you have to do is turn up and be prepared to walk a lot on this ultimate Rome in a day tour.

Walks Tours is proud to be an Official Parco Archeologico del Colosseo Operator approved to lead guided tours of the Colosseum, Roman Forum & Palatine Hill.

Please Note: Between January 12 and March 31, 2026, the Vatican Museums will carry out a dedicated preservation project focused on Michelangelo’s "Last Judgment" in the Sistine Chapel. To allow specialists to work safely and thoroughly, the entire wall featuring the fresco will be covered by scaffolding throughout the intervention. The Sistine Chapel will remain open to visitors, though this specific artwork will be temporarily out of view during the restoration period. We appreciate your patience and understanding as essential conservation work is performed on this remarkable masterpiece.
