Golden Circle Superior - Small Group Tour
Taking the Golden Circle route is a must do activity for travellers visiting Iceland. Our tour encompasses the best that the route has to offer. After being picked up in Reykjavík we will drive into the interior to the most historically important part of Iceland, Thinvellir. A site that was home to the nation's first parliament dating back to over a thousand years ago. Also coveted for its natural splendor, the UNESCO heritage has a spectacular landscape forged by the meeting point of the Eurasian and American tectonic plates.
Onwards to Geysir in the Haukadalur valley, the hot spring area that boasts a plethora of geothermally active springs and geysers, including the magnificent Strokkur, Litli-Strokkur and Smiður. Though Geysir itself is rarely active these days, Haukadalur Valley boasts a plethora of hot springs and geysers, including the powerful Strokkur, Smiður and Litli-Strokkur. Strokkur is, arguably, the country’s most famous hot spring, shooting vast jets of boiling water from 20 metres up to 40 metres high. If you miss your first selfie attempt don’t worry as it erupts every 6-10 minutes.
Another spectacular attraction on this tour is Kerid (Kerið) crater lake. It's also called "The Eye of the World" because of its distinct appearance. Red-colored rocks surround the 3000-year-old lake filled with aquamarine water, and the whole area around it is enclosed by green vegetation. This is the view you’ll be met with above the lake.
We will visit Hveragerði, a geothermal town famous for its steaming hot springs and greenhouses. Also known as "the earthquake town," Hveragerði is an active earthquake location. Grab a cup of coffee and visit an earthquake exhibition in Sunnumörk Shopping Center free of charge.
Finally you will get the chance to see the Faxi Waterfall (often called the little brother of Gullfoss), one of Iceland's hidden gems where you can enjoy peace and tranquility. The cascade is 80 m (262 ft) wide and 7 m (23 ft) high.
A perfect end before we head back to the capitol to be dropped off.
