Embark on a 3-hour food and history journey that explores the contrasting charms of Osaka's most famous districts, Shinsekai and Dotonbori.
Our journey begins with a stroll through the vibrant, retro streets of Shinsekai. Feel the nostalgia of the past as we wander past the iconic Tsutenkaku Tower, the lucky Billiken statue, and the lively Jan-Jan Yokocho alley. This old district is a perfect mix of local culture and history. Here, you'll dive right into the flavor of the neighborhood with a taste of Kushi-katsu—Osaka's famous deep-fried skewers—right where the dish was born!
Next, your guide will lead you into a "museum-like" food alley that offers a virtual glimpse of Osaka's center from over 80 years ago. It’s astonishing how much history you can uncover in this narrow passage, where unique artwork creates an ambiance that truly transports you to bygone days.
Exiting the alley, we'll visit a quaint temple nestled between Namba's bright neon signs and bustling shopping streets. Taking a moment to delve into Osaka's history provides a brief, peaceful respite before we proceed to the nation's culinary heart, Dotonbori!
Feast in the "Nation's Kitchen": Dotonbori has long been the symbol of Osaka, earning the title of the "nation's kitchen" due to its rich merchant and food-trading history. Today, it remains the liveliest and most dazzling part of the city. To conclude your food journey, we'll stuff ourselves like we mean it by sampling the best local Okonomiyaki and Takoyaki at spots personally recommended by your guide.
Come hungry and ready to explore the historical alleys and buzzing streets that make Osaka a world-class food destination! On this tour, you will try six pieces of kushikatsu. For the vegetarian course, they still use pork broth in Kushikatsu. And there is one box of takoyaki (takoyaki is a round, fried food made from batter, small pieces of tender octopus and other ingredients) and Okonomiyaki (okonomiyaki is a Japanese pancake-like delicacy with amazing toppings that brings together various flavours). Even better, you get three drinks. There are both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks available.
Important information:
