Discover Mycenae and Nafplio with Optional Visit to Epidaurus
Wind your way down the coastal road enjoying panoramic views of the Saronic Gulf, before taking a short break at the Corinth Canal. Here, watch ships make their way down the narrow blue channel cut through the isthmus to connect two oceans a century ago.
Wander the tiny pathways of mysterious Mycenae, the 3,000-year-old hilltop citadel of Atreides. This ruined city once inspired the great poet Homer and yielded the most spectacular golden treasure ever excavated in Greece. Soak up the peaceful views of blue hills and the distant tinkling of goat bells while you learn about Mycenae’s secret history of intrigue, betrayal and murder. Explore the monumental Lion’s Gate and the huge Cyclopean walls, before entering the sacred beehive-shaped Tholos tombs of the great kings.
Then it’s a short drive through lush olive groves to picturesque Nafplio, the first capital of modern Greece. Nestled at the foot of a cliff beneath the mighty Palamidi Fortress, the town is a cluster of neoclassical buildings and bougainvillea trees. Take a romantic stroll through the narrow streets and enjoy a meal or a cup of strong Greek coffee overlooking the ocean. In the afternoon, visit the fourth-century BC amphitheater of Epidaurus* to experience the legendary pin-sharp acoustics. Return to Athens via the national road connecting Epidaurus with Corinth.
Important information
The entrance fee for Epidaurus is no longer included in the price. Upon arrival at the site, guests who wish to join the guided tour of the theater must purchase their admission tickets on-site. Others will have free time for approximately one hour, the duration of the guided tour.
Lunch is served either at Mycenae or at Nafplio.
Only Mycenae ticket is included.

We will visit the Mycenae archaeological site, after which we will go to Nafplion for a walking tour of the city and lunch.
