Big Ice Tour

Take the Big Ice excursion, and have the opportunity to get delve into this enormous glacier. This tour suitable only for the most adventurous and, physically fit, as it requires a long ice trek through several rocky areas, as well as the use of harnesses.

After a scenic drive, you will arrive at Bajo de las Sombras Port where you will board a boat that will transport you across the Rico Arm of Lake Argentino. Soon you will reach the shore where you will disembark and meet the mountain guides who will escort the group towards the place where the crampons (special metal spikes worn on boots for traction) are selected.

Set off on your hike towards the glacier from the southern moraine until you reach a spectacular vantage point, an "entrance gate to heaven". This is where the real adventure begins. After fastening your crampons and buckling your harness, you will begin to explore the glacier from a unique perspective and soon discover blue lagoons, deep crevasses, huge drains and ice caves. You will be in awe at the size of one of the most famous glaciers in the world and learn about the characteristics of this giant ice sheet. What´s more, you will enjoy a picnic lunch in one of the most serene locations in the world!
