Explore Chiemsee - Half-Day Private Tour
You’ll be picked up from your hotel and whisked away into Germany’s Bavaria to the pristine freshwater Chiemsee Lake. Your tour begins with a leisurely boat ride out to one of three islands on the lake, Herreninsel, bought by King Ludwig II of Bavaria in 1873.
Enjoy a stroll across the island or hop on one of the horse drawn carriages to take you to the palace entrance in style. The Royal Palace of Herrenchiemsee (New Palace) was modelled on Versailles and was built as a “Temple of Fame” for King Louis XIV of France whose sumptuous interior is a sight to behold. Walk up the grand State Staircase, through the incredibly ornate State Bedroom and along the beautiful Great Hall of Mirrors in an impressive palace tour. The garden also resembles that of Versailles, and when the king died only parts of the garden and palace had been completed.
