Cochabamba City Tour
We begin our beautiful journey with a visit to the lower valley, arriving at Pairumani, the country retreat of Don Simón I. Patiño, built out of love for his wife, Albina Patiño. It boasts a French Neo-Colonial style, period furnishings, and spectacularly manicured gardens. Designed by the French architect Eugène Bliault and the Catalan builder José Turigas Pons, the main building has a rectangular floor plan with a central courtyard. It is characterized by alternating windows with arches—some segmental, others semicircular—and lintel windows. The building and its outbuildings are surrounded by a vast park.
The Villa Albina House Museum (part of the Pairumani Estate) was inaugurated on May 10, 2019. Each space was carefully prepared for display. The furniture and personal belongings left by the family reveal a value that transcends their materiality, showcasing the life story of Doña Albina and her children, who, along with their own families, lived in the house.
Afterward, we toured the city's main attractions, including the Prado, the main square, the Achá Theater, the bike path, the village of Tupuraya, and the Cristo de la Concordia statue.
